How to Complete a Full Ten-Variant Axolotl Collection
Plan for two sources
A complete collection needs both halves of the mod: the eight naturally spawning variants (Golden, Cyanide, Red, Lucia, Green, Dark, Wilder, White) and the two breeding-exclusive ones (Skulk, Glowxolotl). Treat these as two separate projects so you do not waste time searching caves for variants that never spawn there.
Step-by-step collection plan
1. Start with lush cave exploration. Bucket every non-vanilla variant you find and bring it home to a labelled pool.
2. Keep a checklist of the eight wild variants and mark each one off as you catch it. Golden and Cyanide tend to be the ones players hunt longest, so revisit new pools often.
3. Once you have at least two adults, begin breeding. Feed them buckets of tropical fish and let them produce babies.
4. Watch each baby's color. Breeding is the only route to Skulk and Glowxolotl, so keep cycling pairs until both appear.
5. Move each confirmed variant into its own display pool so nothing gets mixed up.
Avoiding common mistakes
Do not release wild-caught and bred axolotls into the same pool until you have identified every individual — it becomes very hard to tell which baby came from which pair. Never leave axolotls out of water, and always carry spare buckets when exploring so you never have to pass up a rare variant.
