How to Summon a Custom Axolotl Variant with Commands
Using the /summon Command
In this mod, axolotl variants are stored as tags instead of numbers. That means you can spawn any registered variant directly by name using the /summon command.
1. Open chat and type /summon minecraft:axolotl ~ ~ ~ {Variant:"minecraft:lucy"} to spawn a vanilla Lucy axolotl at your position.
2. Replace minecraft:lucy with the full identifier of the variant you want. For a modded variant, the identifier follows the pattern yourmodid:yourvariantname — for example, axolotlvariants:golden.
3. If you don't know the exact identifier, check the mod's config files or the mod's registry list. Identifiers are always lowercase and use a colon between the namespace and the path.
Spawning in Specific Conditions
You can combine the Variant tag with other axolotl NBT, such as Age (negative for babies) or PersistenceRequired. For example, /summon minecraft:axolotl ~ ~ ~ {Variant:"minecraft:blue",Age:-24000} spawns a baby blue axolotl. If the command fails, the identifier is likely misspelled or the variant isn't registered — double-check the namespace and path.
