Enhance Lighting in Dark Areas and Caves
Access Lighting Controls
Open the shader menu and navigate to the Lighting or Ambient Light section. Moon Shaders' smooth lighting system can be customized to improve visibility underground.
Adjust Ambient Brightness
- Ambient Light Level: Increase this to brighten shadowed areas without making torches irrelevant. This helps caves feel less pitch-black while preserving contrast.
- Torch Glow: Enhance how much light torches and other light sources emit into surrounding blocks. Higher values make torches more effective for navigation.
- Shadow Softness: Increase softness to reduce harsh black shadows in caves, making details more visible.
Fine-Tune for Balance
Visit a cave or dark area to test changes. The goal is improved visibility without losing the atmosphere of darkness. If caves become too bright, reduce ambient light slightly. Remember that torches should still be your primary light source—adjustments should support, not replace, proper lighting. Experiment until dark areas feel navigable but still moody.
