How to Use Monsters In The Closet to Find the Mob Blocking Your Sleep

Trigger the Highlight

When you right-click a bed and get the "You can't sleep now, monsters are nearby" message, the mod instantly outlines the offending mobs with a glowing highlight. The highlight only lasts a few seconds, so you need to act fast.

1. Stand next to your bed and attempt to sleep as normal.

2. The moment the sleep-fail message appears, stop and look around your base.

3. Scan for the glowing outline — it cuts through walls, floors, and ceilings within the mod's detection range.

4. Note the direction and distance of the glow before it fades.

Deal With the Threat

Once you know where the mob is, you can plan your approach instead of blindly digging around.

• If the glow is below you, check caves, basements, or under-floor gaps.
• If it is above, check attics, roofs, or the surface directly overhead.
• If it is behind a wall, break through or route around to reach it.
• Kill or relocate the mob, then try the bed again.

Because the highlight is short-lived, keep a weapon and torch ready before you attempt to sleep so you can react immediately.
