Fixing a Modonomicon Book That Will Not Open or Shows Blank Pages

First checks

If using the book does nothing, confirm you are holding the correct guide item and that the mod which provides it is actually loaded. A book from a mod that failed to load will not function. Also check that you are not in a GUI-blocking state such as riding a vehicle or inside another screen.

Blank or missing pages

A book that opens but shows empty categories or pages usually means its data did not load. This happens when a datapack providing the book's content is broken or was removed. Verify the datapack is enabled for the world and that its JSON files are valid; a single syntax error can drop the whole book's content.

Unlock-related blanks

Some pages are intentionally hidden until conditions are met, so an entry can look empty on a fresh save. Progress the mod and reopen the book before assuming it is broken.

Configuration and conflicts

Check the mod's configuration for options that disable the book or hide entries. If another mod overrides the same item or screen, the guide may fail to open; test with a minimal set of mods to isolate the conflict.

Recovery steps

1. Reload the world or run a datapack reload.

2. Re-check the datapack folder path and file names.

3. Compare your JSON against a known-good example.

4. If it still fails, remove your custom content and confirm the base book works, then re-add files one at a time.
