Reduce Lag Caused by Excessive Mod Sounds

Identify Sound-Heavy Mods

Some mods produce frequent sound effects that can impact performance, especially on lower-end systems. If you notice stuttering or lag spikes, mod sounds might be a contributing factor.

Access Per-Mod Volume Controls

Open Settings > Music & Sound Options and select the mod volume button. This shows all mods generating audio.

Lower or Disable Problematic Sounds

Start by reducing the volume of mods known for frequent sound effects—such as those adding machinery, ambient creatures, or constant notifications. You don't necessarily need to mute them completely; even lowering them can reduce the audio processing load.

If lag persists after reducing volumes, try muting the most sound-heavy mods entirely to see if performance improves.

Monitor Performance

After adjusting, play normally and check if stuttering decreases. This mod lets you balance audio immersion with performance—you can keep sounds you enjoy while silencing those that don't matter to your experience.
