Understanding Mod Remapping and Runtime Compatibility

What Remapping Does

Mod Remapping API Mod automatically converts non-Fabric mods to work with your current game setup at launch. When you start the game, the mod detects which mappings your environment uses and adjusts mod code to match—without requiring you to manually recompile or swap versions.

Why This Matters

Different Minecraft versions and loader configurations use different internal naming systems (mappings). A mod built for one setup may fail on another. Remapping bridges this gap by translating the mod's code on-the-fly, so compatibility layers like Fabricated Legacy Forge and Apron can function across multiple game versions.

When Remapping Happens

Remapping occurs during the startup sequence, before mods fully load.

Limitations

Remapping works best with mods that follow standard patterns. Highly obfuscated or version-locked mods may still fail. If a mod won't load despite remapping, check mod compatibility lists or consider alternatives designed for your specific game version.
