Looting Chests and Avoiding Traps Safely
Identifying Loot Locations
Mineshafts contain multiple loot tiers: common supply barrels scattered throughout tunnels, standard chests in storage chambers, and rare treasure vaults hidden deeper underground. Storage chambers are typically larger, reinforced rooms branching off main corridors. Treasure vaults are the most isolated and dangerous—expect hostile spawners nearby.
Safe Looting Strategy
Always scout a room before opening chests. Look for mob spawners on ceilings or walls; these spawn hostile mobs when you approach. If you spot a spawner, either destroy it with a pickaxe, light it thoroughly with torches to prevent spawning, or retreat and return with better gear.
Nether mineshafts contain TNT trap rooms—avoid striking blocks carelessly. In desert variants, suspicious sand blocks may trigger traps when mined. Open chests from a distance when possible, and keep your inventory space clear to carry loot back safely.
