Understand How Fox Variants Are Assigned
How Randomization Works
Mizuno's Fox Variants uses Custom Entity Models (CEM) to apply textures randomly at the moment a fox spawns into your world. This means each new fox receives a texture assignment automatically—no commands or configuration needed on your part.
Key Mechanics
Spawn-time assignment: When a fox naturally generates or is born, the pack randomly selects one of its available variant textures and applies it to that individual fox.
Persistent appearance: Once a fox receives its variant texture, that appearance stays with it for the rest of its life in your world. Reloading chunks or the game won't change an existing fox's look.
No player input required: The randomization is entirely automatic. You don't need to use commands, crafting, or special items to see variants—just encounter foxes normally.
Seamless integration: Because the pack uses CEM rather than modifying fox behavior or adding new entities, variants work alongside vanilla fox mechanics. Taming, breeding, and all standard fox features function normally.
This design means every playthrough will naturally feature a diverse fox population without extra effort.
