Set Up a Colorful RGB Gradient MOTD

Creating Your Gradient MOTD

RGB gradients let you blend multiple colors smoothly across your MOTD text. This catches players' eyes on the server list.

Steps

1. Open your MiniMOTD configuration file (usually in the plugin's config folder)

2. Locate the MOTD section

3. Use RGB color codes in the format &#RRGGBB where RR, GG, and BB are hexadecimal values (00-FF)

4. For a gradient, apply different RGB codes to consecutive words or characters:

  • Start with your first color code
  • Add text
  • Switch to the next color code
  • Continue with more text

5. Example: &#FF0000Welcome &#00FF00to &#0000FFOur Server creates red-to-green-to-blue text

6. Save the configuration file

7. Run /minimotd reload (requires minimotd.admin permission)

8. Join the server list preview to see your gradient in action

Tips

  • Test gradients with 3-5 colors for best visual effect
  • Avoid too many color transitions—they can look chaotic
  • Pair gradients with simple, readable fonts for maximum impact
