Create a Multi-Line MOTD Message
Expanding Your MOTD Across Multiple Lines
Multi-line MOTDs let you communicate more information—rules, events, or status updates—directly on the server list.
Steps
1. Open your MiniMOTD configuration file
2. Locate the MOTD text section
3. Use a line break character (typically \n or a newline in your config format) to separate lines
4. Example structure:

Line 2: Join us for events this weekend!

5. Save the configuration file
6. Run /minimotd reload with minimotd.admin permission
7. View your server in the multiplayer list—both lines should display
Design Tips
- Keep each line concise (under 50 characters for readability)
- Use the first line for your server name or main message
- Reserve the second line for status, events, or a call-to-action
- Combine multi-line formatting with RGB colors for visual hierarchy
- Test on the actual server list to ensure formatting displays correctly across different clients
