Parse placeholders on a Velocity proxy server

Using placeholders on Velocity

If you're running a Velocity proxy server, you can use the /vminiplaceholders command to parse messages with placeholders at the proxy level. This is useful for testing proxy-wide placeholders or messages that appear before players join a backend server.

Steps

1. Connect to your Velocity proxy console or in-game

2. For parsing as yourself, use:

`

/vminiplaceholders parse me "[message with placeholders]"

`

3. For parsing as a specific player, use:

`

/vminiplaceholders parse player [player-name] "[message with placeholders]"

`

4. Replace the placeholders section with your test message

5. Press Enter

The proxy will parse your message and display the result, showing how placeholders are replaced at the proxy level.

Tips

  • Proxy-level placeholders may differ from server-level ones
  • This is useful for testing MOTD messages, tab list headers, or other proxy-wide text
  • Ensure the player is connected to the proxy if testing player-specific placeholders
