Deobfuscate Minecraft Server Code to Read It
Understanding Obfuscation
Minecraft's server code is intentionally scrambled with meaningless variable and method names. This tool converts those names back into readable English, making it possible to study how the server actually works.
Steps to Deobfuscate
1. Open the Deobfuscation Tool
2. Select Type: server
3. Enter the Version you want (for example, 1.20.1)
4. Leave Decompile unchecked if you only want renamed code
5.
6. Extract the resulting .zip file
You'll now have a folder containing .class files with readable method and variable names. Use a Java decompiler like CFR or Procyon to view the actual source code from these .class files.
Why This Matters
Deobfuscated code lets you understand game mechanics, find bugs, or learn how Minecraft implements specific features. The mappings rename thousands of obfuscated identifiers, turning a() into something like tick() or updatePlayer().
