How to Remap Buttons and Create Custom Controller Mappings

Opening the mapping screen

Midnight Controls lets you rebind every controller button without editing files. Open the mod's controls or settings screen and find the button binding section. You will see a list of actions (jump, attack, inventory, sneak, and so on) each paired with the button currently assigned.

Reassigning a button

1. Select the action you want to change.

2. Press the controller button you want to assign to it.

3. If that button was already used, the mod will warn you or swap the binding.

4. Confirm and repeat for any other actions.

Because the mod automatically supports modded keybindings, actions added by other mods also appear in this list, so you can map them to your controller too.

Saving and sharing mappings

Your custom mapping is saved as a profile you can switch between. If you use several controllers, create a separate mapping for each so you do not have to rebind every time. You can also export or import mappings if the mod exposes that option, which is handy when moving between computers. If a binding feels wrong in game, return to this screen and adjust it rather than fighting the default layout.
