Optimize Performance While Using Miasma Shaders
Reduce Visual Complexity
Miasma Shaders' cel-shading and edge detection are computationally expensive. Lower these settings first:
- Disable or reduce shadow quality — shadows add realism but tank frame rate
- Lower render distance — cel-shading is applied per-pixel, so fewer chunks means faster rendering
- Reduce reflection and water quality — these often include expensive lighting calculations
Adjust Lighting and Effects
Look for options controlling:
- Ambient occlusion — creates depth but costs performance; disable if needed
- Light ray intensity — the god-rays and atmospheric lighting are beautiful but heavy; reduce their strength
- Bloom and glow effects — tone these down to improve frame rate
Monitor Frame Rate
Use F3 (Debug Screen) to watch your FPS while adjusting settings. Make one change at a time so you know which setting impacts performance most.
Balance Aesthetics and Smoothness
The toxic, alien look of Miasma Shaders remains striking even with reduced settings. Prioritize frame rate over maximum visual fidelity for a playable experience.
