How to Configure the Recommended Memory Message in Memory Settings Mod

What the Recommendation Does

The mod can compare your system's total memory against the amount you allocated and display a recommended value. This is useful when you are unsure how much RAM to give the game. The recommendation is calculated from your detected system memory, so it scales with the machine you are actually running on rather than being a fixed number.

Editing the Config

1. Locate the config file in your Minecraft config folder.

2. Open it in a plain text editor.

3. Find the section that controls recommended memory. You can adjust the thresholds the mod uses when deciding what to suggest for client and server separately.

4. If you want the recommendation to reflect a different fraction of your system memory, change the relevant setting rather than hardcoding a number.

5. Save the file and relaunch the game to see the updated message.

Because the mod reads system memory at startup, the recommendation updates automatically if you move the config to a different machine. Keep the client and server values distinct if you run a dedicated server, since servers often need a different allocation than the client.
