How to Craft Osmium Tools and Armor

Why Osmium Matters

Osmium is Mekanism's signature metal. It is common in Mekanism ore generation and is used heavily in machines, but it also makes a strong mid-tier tool and armor set. Osmium tools outperform iron in durability and mining speed.

Crafting Osmium Gear

Smelt Osmium Ore or Raw Osmium into Osmium Ingots, then use a crafting table. Tools use the standard tool patterns with Osmium Ingots. Armor uses the standard armor patterns. The set includes Sword, Pickaxe, Axe, Shovel, Hoe, Shield, Paxel, Helmet, Chestplate, Leggings, and Boots.

Osmium Paxel

If you want one tool for everything, craft the Osmium Paxel. It combines pickaxe, axe, and shovel functions and is a great all-purpose mining tool for the mid game.

Enchanting Osmium Gear

Apply Efficiency, Fortune or Silk Touch, Unbreaking, and Mending to your Osmium tools. For armor, Protection, Unbreaking, and Mending are the priorities. Repair Osmium gear in an anvil with Osmium Ingots, or let Mending handle it.

When to Upgrade

Osmium is a strong general-purpose set, but Refined Glowstone and Netherite Paxels offer higher tiers. Move on once you have the infrastructure for those materials.
