How to Choose Between Lapis Lazuli, Bronze, Osmium, and Refined Glowstone Tools

Tier Overview

Mekanism Tools offers several material tiers. Lapis Lazuli is the entry tier, Bronze is a step up, Osmium is the mid-tier workhorse, and Refined Glowstone is a high tier. Diamond, Gold, Iron, and Netherite Paxels also exist as crossover options.

Early Game: Lapis Lazuli and Bronze

Lapis Lazuli tools are cheap and easy to make if you have lapis. They are a fine stopgap before you find better materials. Bronze requires copper and tin but gives better durability and mining level, so craft Bronze once your alloying setup is running.

Mid Game: Osmium

Osmium is abundant in Mekanism worlds and makes a strong all-purpose set. The Osmium Paxel is especially useful because it replaces three tools. This is the tier most players settle on while building out their machine base.

Late Game: Refined Glowstone and Netherite

Refined Glowstone gear is a high-tier upgrade once you have the processing chain. Netherite Paxels are the top-end option if you want maximum durability and mining performance in a single tool. Choose based on what materials you can sustain for repairs and enchanting.
