Getting Started with the Heat Generator and Geothermal Module
How the Heat Generator Works
Heat Generators produce power from heat. They generate passively when placed next to a hot block (like lava) or when supplied with a hot fluid. The exact rate depends on the heat source and the surrounding setup.
Passive vs Active
In passive mode, place the generator adjacent to lava or another heat source and it produces a small trickle of power continuously. In active mode, pipe in a hot fluid such as lava directly — this gives much higher output and is the way to run it seriously.
Geothermal Module
The Module Geothermal Generator Unit goes into the Heat Generator's module slot. It boosts the generator's performance when running on lava, making it a worthwhile upgrade if you have a lava supply.
Sourcing Lava
Use a pump or a Mechanical Pipe pulling from a lava source, or set up a dripstone-style lava farm if your pack supports it. Store lava in a Fluid Tank near the generator so it never runs dry.
Practical Notes
- Heat Generators are a solid early-mid game power source if you have lava nearby.
- Combine several generators on one lava line for more total output.
- Don't confuse the Heat Generator with the Fission or Fusion reactors — those are late-game and far more complex.
