Building a Gas-Burning Generator Setup with Ethylene
Why Ethylene
Gas-Burning Generators burn combustible gases. The best common fuel is Ethylene, produced from Bioethanol in a Pressurized Reaction Chamber with Hydrogen. Ethylene gives strong output per unit and is renewable if you have a farm.
The Production Chain
1. Farm plant matter → Crusher → Biomass.
2. Biomass + Water in a PRC → Bioethanol.
3. Bioethanol + Hydrogen in a PRC → Ethylene (and some substrate byproduct).
4. Pipe Ethylene gas into the Gas-Burning Generator.
Hydrogen comes from an Electrolytic Separator running on water. That separator itself needs power, so bootstrap with a Bio-Generator first.
Feeding the Generator
Gas-Burning Generators accept gas via pressurized tubes or directly from an adjacent machine. Connect the Ethylene output of your PRC to the generator's gas input. The generator stores a small internal buffer, so a steady supply matters more than a huge one.
Tips
- Use a Gas Tank as a buffer between production and generation to smooth out spikes.
- Multiple generators on one Ethylene line will split the gas; make sure your production keeps up.
- If output drops, check that your PRC isn't starved of Hydrogen or Bioethanol.
