Distinguish Between Multiple Maps of the Same Region
Handle Overlapping Map Coverage
When exploring a large area, you'll often create multiple maps that cover similar or adjacent regions. Map In Slot Mod's thumbnail system helps you see exactly which portion of the landscape each map captures.
Identifying Similar Maps
1. Create maps in sequence as you explore a large area—each new map will show slightly different terrain
2. View them side-by-side in your inventory to see how their coverage differs
3. Look for distinctive landmarks visible in each thumbnail—mountains, water features, or structures help you identify which map covers which direction
4. Arrange them spatially in your inventory to match their real-world positions (north maps on top, south maps on bottom, etc.)
Practical Strategy
When mapping a region methodically, keep your maps in inventory order matching your exploration pattern. The visual previews let you verify you haven't accidentally created duplicate maps of the same area. If two maps look nearly identical, you've likely mapped the same spot twice and can discard one.
This approach is especially useful for large-scale projects like mapping entire continents or creating detailed base surroundings.
