Reduce Shadow Harshness for a Softer Look
Open Shadow Configuration
Access your shader settings menu and locate the shadow options. MakeUp Breezy Shaders allows customization of shadow intensity, softness, and color to match the cartoon aesthetic.
Lower Shadow Darkness
Find the shadow intensity or darkness slider. Reducing this value makes shadows appear lighter and less harsh, creating a softer, more forgiving look that complements the anime art style. This prevents deep black shadows from dominating shaded areas.
Increase Shadow Softness
If available, adjust the shadow blur or softness setting. Higher values create gradual transitions between lit and shadowed areas, while lower values produce sharp shadow edges. For a cartoon look, moderate softness usually works best.
Adjust Shadow Color
Some shader packs let you tint shadows—adding a slight blue or purple hue can enhance the anime feel rather than using pure black shadows.
Test in Various Lighting
Walk through different environments: forests, buildings, and open plains. Observe how shadows fall on terrain, mobs, and structures. Softer shadows should make the world feel less harsh while maintaining depth and dimension.
If frame rate drops, shadow quality settings may help—lower quality shadows render faster on older hardware.
