Set Up Maintenance Mode with a Custom Kick Message
Configure Your Kick Message
When maintenance mode is active, players who aren't whitelisted will be disconnected. You can customize the message they see.
1. Open your mod's configuration file (usually in your server config folder)
2. Locate the kick-message or maintenance-message setting
3. Enter your custom message using MiniMessage formatting or standard Minecraft color codes
4. Use &c for red, &e for yellow, &a for green, etc., or MiniMessage tags like <red>, <gold> for more control
5. Include helpful information like when maintenance will end or where players can find updates
6. Save the config and restart your server or reload the mod
Example Messages
A simple message: &cServer is under maintenance. Please try again later.
A detailed message with MiniMessage: <red>Maintenance in progress</red>\n<gray>Expected downtime: 2 hours\nFollow us on Discord for updates</gray>
Test your message by temporarily enabling maintenance mode and attempting to join with an account not on the whitelist. The formatted message should display in the disconnect screen.
