Prepare Your Base for Blood Moon Events

Understanding Blood Moon Threats

Blood Moons occur every 24 in-game days and bring daytime thunderstorms plus intense nighttime mob spawning. Unlike normal nights, hostile mobs will spawn in much larger numbers and closer to your base, making preparation essential.

Defense Strategy

Build protective structures: Construct walls or barriers around your base at least 2-3 blocks high to prevent ground mobs from entering. Consider adding an overhang or roof to stop mobs from jumping over defenses.

Light up your area: Place torches, lanterns, or other light sources around your base perimeter. Hostile mobs cannot spawn in well-lit areas, so thorough lighting is your best defense.

Stock supplies: Before a Blood Moon night, gather weapons, armor, and healing items. Keep a bow with arrows nearby for ranged combat against mobs spawning at distance.

Create a safe room: Build an interior chamber with a door that locks mobs out. This serves as a last resort if your outer defenses are breached.

Timing

Check the in-game day counter. Blood Moons occur on day 25, 49, 73, and so on. Plan your preparations the day before to ensure you're ready when night falls.
