How to Make Paths and Paving from Andesite and Blackstone

Why Andesite and Blackstone

Andesite and blackstone are two of the most common base stones in the mod's paving set. Andesite is easy to find in overworld caves and mountains, while blackstone comes from the Nether. Both can be turned into the full range of patterns: flagstone, basket weave, running bond, windmill weave, clover, diamond, dumble, honeycomb, crystal floor, and strewn rocky path.

Gathering the Base Stone

Mine andesite with any pickaxe; it generates in large veins underground and in stony shore biomes. For blackstone, travel to the Nether and mine the blackstone deposits found across basalt deltas and near bastion remnants. Bring plenty of blocks back so you can craft multiple pattern types.

Crafting the Patterns

Place your andesite or blackstone into the crafting grid following the mod's recipes. Each pattern uses the base stone plus a shaping ingredient. Flagstone gives a cracked, natural look; running bond and basket weave give clean brick-like layouts; windmill weave and clover add decorative geometric flair; crystal floor variants have a polished, reflective appearance.

Mixing for Detail

Combine several patterns in one build to break up large floors. A flagstone border with a running bond center, or a crystal floor accent strip, reads much better than a single repeating texture. Path versions are thinner and work well for garden walkways between full paving areas.
