How to Build a Painting Gallery or Art Wall with Macaw's Paintings
Planning Your Gallery Layout
A gallery works best on a long, flat wall with plenty of uninterrupted space. Before placing anything, decide how many paintings you want and roughly where each will go. Because the mod adds many designs to the vanilla pool, cycling through them takes patience, so plan your layout to minimize re-rolling.
Step-by-Step Gallery Setup
1. Build a flat wall of solid blocks, at least a few blocks tall and several blocks wide.
2. Place your first painting in one section by right-clicking the wall. Cycle with right-clicks until you find a design you like.
3. Move to the next section and place another painting. Leave a gap of at least one block between paintings so they do not merge visually.
4. Continue until the wall is filled. Use different wall sections to control painting sizes.
Lighting and Framing
Paintings look best with good lighting. Place torches, lanterns, or other light sources above or beside the wall, not in front of the paintings. You can frame paintings by building a border of contrasting blocks around each one, such as wood planks around stone. For a museum feel, add a row of signs or item frames beneath each painting. If a painting spawns in a size you dislike, break it and adjust the free space before replacing it.
