Triggering Interactions When an Item Entity Is in Water or Burning
Item Entity Inside a Block
Lychee can fire an interaction when an item entity sits inside a specific block, most commonly water. This is how you build recipes like washing dirty ore or dissolving an item in a fluid. In your datapack's data/<namespace>/recipes/ folder, create a JSON file and set the recipe type to Lychee's item-entity-in-block interaction. Define the block the entity must be inside, the item entity that triggers it, and the result — usually a dropped output item or a block replacement.
Item Entity Burning
A separate Lychee interaction type handles item entities that are on fire. Use this for recipes like burning an item in lava or fire to produce a smelted result. The JSON structure is similar: specify the input item entity, the burning condition, and the output. You can also combine conditions so the recipe only fires when the entity is both burning and inside a
particular block.
Verifying Both Types
Run /reload, then drop the input item into the specified block or set it on fire and watch for the output. If nothing triggers, confirm the block ID and item ID are correct and that the recipe type string matches Lychee's registered identifier. Parse errors appear in the game log.
