Prevent Your Best Tools from Breaking During Mining

How the Auto-Switch Works

When your tool's durability drops below 10 points, the Low Durability Switcher Mod automatically moves you to the next available hotbar slot. This happens instantly when you try to use the damaged tool, preventing it from breaking completely.

Best Practices for Mining

Monitor your hotbar slots: Keep spare, repaired tools in your hotbar so the auto-switch has somewhere to move you. If all your tools are low durability, you'll cycle through them until you find one that works.

Repair before critical damage: While the mod saves your tools from shattering, it's still good practice to repair enchanted picks at an anvil or grindstone before they reach the low durability threshold. This prevents constant slot-switching mid-session.

Carry backup tools: Always have at least one fully repaired tool in your hotbar when mining valuable ores. The mod works best as a safety net, not a replacement for tool management.

Use with Mending: If your tools have the Mending enchantment, the auto-switch gives you time to gain experience and repair them before they break.
