Troubleshoot Visual Glitches and Artifacts

Identify Common Issues

If you see flickering shadows, color banding, or strange distortion:

  • Flickering or shadow lag — Shadows may not be updating smoothly. Lower shadow distance in shader settings or reduce render distance
  • Color banding or posterization — The tape effect may be too intense. Reduce grain and color effect sliders
  • Texture distortion — Ensure your graphics driver is up to date and compatible with your shader loader

Reset and Reconfigure

If issues persist, reset shader settings to default and gradually re-enable features one at a time. This isolates which setting causes problems.

Check Compatibility

Verify that:

  • Your shader loader (Iris or Oculus) is fully updated
  • No conflicting mods are active (especially other shader packs or visual enhancement mods)
  • Your GPU drivers support the shader version

If visual artifacts remain after these steps, try loading a different world or temporarily disabling the shader to confirm the issue originates from Lost Tape Shaders rather than your system.
