Finding Your First Resources on the Archipelago

Locate Caves and Surface Ores

When you spawn into Los Penascos Archipelago, your first priority is gathering basic resources. The custom islands contain standard Minecraft ores distributed across the terrain, so you don't need to travel far.

Start by exploring the beaches and lower slopes of nearby islands. Look for exposed stone and gravel—these areas often reveal coal and iron ore. Punch trees for wood immediately, then craft a wooden pickaxe.

Enter Your First Cave

Caves are abundant throughout the archipelago. Follow any dark openings you find in hillsides or cliff faces. Bring your wooden pickaxe and at least 10 blocks of dirt or wood to mark your path back.

Inside caves, you'll find coal, iron, and copper ore. Mine iron ore with your stone pickaxe (craft one once you have stone) and collect coal for torches. Place torches on one wall as you descend so you can navigate back to the surface.

Avoid going too deep on your first cave run. Return to the surface, smelt your iron ore in a furnace, and craft better tools. This gives you a solid foundation to explore further and tackle dungeons when you're ready.
