Exploring Beyond the Custom Islands
Travel to the Map Edge
The archipelago has defined boundaries. If you sail or travel far enough in any direction past the custom islands, you'll reach the transition zone where regular Minecraft terrain begins to generate.
Prepare for this journey: bring a boat, food, and basic tools. The ocean between islands can be deep, so a boat is safer than swimming. Mark your base location with a tall pillar or beacon so you can find your way home.
Discover New Biomes and Resources
Once you reach the procedurally generated terrain beyond the archipelago, you enter standard Minecraft biomes. These areas contain all the biomes you'd find in a normal world—deserts, forests, jungles, and more.
This is ideal for finding specific biome resources your base island lacks. Collect sand from deserts, jungle wood from jungles, or nether wart from the Nether (once you've built a portal). The generated terrain also contains villages, temples, and other structures not present on the custom islands, giving you more exploration goals.
