Choosing and Preparing a Base Location
Scout Multiple Islands
The archipelago offers diverse landscapes—mountains, beaches, and flat plains. Before committing to a base location, spend time exploring several islands to understand what each offers.
Look for islands with:
- Flat or gently sloped terrain for building
- Access to water for farms and transportation
- Nearby caves for mining
- Tall mountains if you want dramatic scenery
Take note of any nearby dungeons or structures like pillager outposts, which you can raid later for loot.
Prepare Your Building Site
Once you've chosen an island, clear a space for your base. Remove trees, level uneven ground, and gather building blocks from your surroundings. Stone, dirt, and wood are abundant and work well for starter bases.
Build near water if possible—it's essential for farms, fishing, and travel. Leave caves nearby unexploited; you can mine them gradually as you expand. Consider your base's visibility from the ocean; if you want privacy, build inland or on a less-traveled island.
