How to Reduce Lag or FPS Drops Caused by Loot Beams

Why Beams Can Cost Performance

Every beam is an extra rendered element. On a server with hundreds of dropped items, or after a big explosion, the mod can draw a lot of geometry at once and drag your framerate down. The fix is to limit how many beams render and how far away they appear.

Tuning for Performance

Open the Loot Beams config file in your config folder and adjust these kinds of settings:

  • Render distance — lower the maximum distance at which beams are drawn. Beams far away are barely visible anyway, so cutting them saves work.
  • Item filtering — switch to rarity or list filtering so common junk items (cobblestone, seeds, dirt) do not generate beams at all. Fewer beams means less to render.
  • Beam complexity — if the config exposes beam width, height, or particle/glow options, reduce them. Simpler beams render faster.
  • Master toggle — if you are in a laggy area and just need frames, disable beams temporarily.

When to Adjust

If you notice stutter specifically when lots of items are on the ground, filtering is usually the biggest win. If the drop happens everywhere, render distance helps more. Change one setting at a time, save, and reload so you can tell which tweak actually helped. Because the mod is client-side, these changes only affect your own performance and never the server's.
