Reach Distant Islands and Ocean Monuments

Preparing for Water Travel

Your starting chest contains a wooden boat. Use it to travel across the ocean toward distant islands you can see on the horizon. Boats are your primary transportation tool early game—they're faster than swimming and let you carry items safely.

Navigating to Monuments

Ocean monuments appear as large structures above the water. Approach them cautiously: they contain valuable loot but are guarded by guardians. You'll need armor and weapons before attempting to loot one.

Collecting Resources from Other Islands

Smaller islands scattered across the map may contain useful blocks, plants, or mobs. Use your boat to island-hop and gather materials you can't find on your main island. Mark your route mentally or with landmarks so you can find your way home.

Consider building a dock or landing platform on your main island to make boat travel easier and safer.
