Troubleshooting: Sounds Seem Louder or Quieter Than Before

Why Volume Levels Changed

After installing the mod, your previous slider positions now represent different actual volumes. This isn't a bug—it's the logarithmic scale working correctly. A slider at 50% under the old linear system doesn't equal 50% under the new logarithmic system.

How to Readjust

Simply re-open Options → Sound Settings and move sliders to match your preferred listening level. You may find you need different positions than before.

If sounds feel too loud overall: Lower the Master Volume slider. You'll likely find a comfortable position you couldn't achieve precisely before.

If specific sounds are problematic: Adjust individual category sliders (Music, Weather, Hostile, etc.) to rebalance. The logarithmic scale gives you finer control, especially at lower volumes.

Testing your changes: Load a world and listen to different sound sources—mining blocks, mobs, music, weather. Make small slider adjustments and test again. The logarithmic scale means each adjustment has more noticeable effect than it would have in the linear system.
