How to Configure Log Cleaner to Delete Old Log Files Automatically

Log Cleaner works out of the box, but the default settings may not match how much disk space you want to reclaim or how aggressively you want files removed. Configuring it properly is the main task most players need to do.

Finding and Editing the Config

After launching the game once with the mod installed, a config file is generated in your Minecraft config folder. Open it with any text editor. The options control which folders are scanned for log files and how old a file must be before it is eligible for deletion. The mod bases eligibility on the last access time of a file, not its creation date, so a log that is still being written to or read regularly will be left alone even if it is old.

Setting Your Cleanup Rules

Adjust the age threshold to match your storage habits. A shorter threshold frees space faster but removes recent logs; a longer one keeps more history. You can also point the mod at additional directories if you keep logs outside the default location. Save the file and restart the game for changes to apply. Because the mod checks access dates, you do not need to worry about it deleting a log that an active process is still using. If you want to verify behavior, check the target folder before and after a cleanup cycle to confirm which files were removed.
