Reducing Loading Screen Lag Caused by Background Images
High-resolution ocean artwork can make the loading screen feel slower or stutter on weaker machines, because large images are decoded and drawn while the game is still starting up. You can keep the theme while improving performance.
Lower the Impact
- Disable other resource packs that also load large textures during startup, so fewer images compete for memory.
- If the Loading Backgrounds mod exposes settings for background resolution, image scaling, or how often backgrounds change, lower those values.
- Keep only the Oceans pack enabled rather than several loading-screen packs at once.
If It Still Stutters
1. Allocate a reasonable amount of memory to the instance in your launcher — too little forces constant garbage collection during load.
2. Close background applications that use GPU or disk heavily while Minecraft starts.
3. As a last resort, temporarily disable the pack to confirm it is the cause; if load times return to normal, the images are the bottleneck and lowering resolution settings is the fix.
Note that a longer visible loading screen is not necessarily a problem — the pack only changes what is drawn, not how fast the world generates.
