Tame and Saddle Your First Llama

Finding a Llama

Llamas spawn naturally in Savanna Plateau and Windswept Hills biomes, usually in herds of 4–6. You can also find them accompanying the Wandering Trader. Approach slowly to avoid startling them.

Taming Process

With an empty hand, right-click the llama repeatedly. You'll see red hearts appear when it begins to trust you. Keep clicking until the llama no longer resists—you'll know it's tamed when a saddle icon appears on its back.

Adding a Saddle

Once tamed, open the llama's inventory by right-clicking it while sneaking. Place a saddle in the designated saddle slot. The llama is now ready to ride.

Mounting and Riding

Right-click the saddled llama to mount it. Use standard movement controls (WASD) to move around. The llama handles similarly to a horse—you can jump and navigate terrain. Dismount by pressing the sneak key.

Important Note

Don't accidentally hit your llama during taming or riding. Llamas will spit at you if provoked, dealing damage and applying a slowness effect. Be patient and careful around your new steed.
