Troubleshoot Uneven or Flickering Lighting

Verify Shader is Active

Check that Lit Vanilla Plus is selected in your shader options menu. Confirm the shader loads by looking for the characteristic improved lighting in your world—shadows should be smoother and more defined than vanilla.

Check for Conflicting Settings

If lighting appears patchy or flickers, open shader settings and reset to defaults. Then gradually re-enable customizations one at a time to identify which setting causes the issue.

Inspect Light Source Placement

Flickering often occurs when light sources are placed too close together or in unusual configurations. Spread torches further apart and ensure they're not embedded in blocks that block light propagation.

Update Graphics Drivers

Shader performance depends on your GPU drivers. Outdated drivers can cause rendering glitches. If uneven lighting persists after resetting shader settings, updating your graphics drivers may resolve the issue.

Reduce Shadow Distance

If lighting seems unstable at high settings, lower shadow distance and quality. This reduces computational load and often eliminates flickering artifacts.
