How to Stop Chunks from Unloading Too Soon After Logout

Diagnosing the Problem

If players report that farms, furnaces, or machines stop working almost immediately after they log off, the unload timeout is probably set too low for your server's play style. The mod unloads chunks a set number of minutes after the last player in them disconnects, so any process that needs more time than that will be interrupted.

Raising the Timeout

Open the mod's config file in your server's config folder and find the timeout setting. Increase the value to give chunks more time before they unload. The unit is minutes, so raising it by a modest amount is usually enough — you do not need to set it to an enormous number unless your players routinely stay offline for long stretches.

Balancing Against Server Load

Every extra minute of loaded chunks costs memory and tick time. Before raising the timeout, check your server's memory usage during peak hours. If you are already near your limit, raising the timeout will make lag worse. In that case, consider asking players to consolidate their chunkloaders or move heavy machines closer together so fewer chunks need to stay loaded.

Confirming the Fix

Restart the server, then have a player log out next to an active machine and check back after the new timeout has passed. If the machine is still running, the change worked.
