How to Configure the Chunk Unload Timeout
Finding the Config File
After the mod runs once, it generates a config file in your server's config folder. Open it with any plain-text editor. Inside you will find the setting that controls how long chunks remain loaded after a player disconnects. The value is expressed in minutes, so a larger number keeps chunks alive longer and a smaller number frees server memory sooner.
Choosing a Sensible Value
Think about what your players leave behind when they log off. If someone parks a machine that processes items overnight, a short timeout will halt that machine shortly after they leave. If your server struggles with memory or tick time, a long timeout keeps unnecessary chunks active and hurts performance for everyone online.
A good starting point is a few minutes longer than the longest routine logout-to-login gap you expect, then adjust based on your server's RAM headroom and player feedback. Change the number, save the file, and restart the server so the new value takes effect. There is no in-game command to change it live, so plan restarts around your busiest hours.
Verifying the Change
After restarting, watch your server logs and memory graph over the next hour. If chunks are still unloading too early or too late, revisit the config and nudge the value rather than making large jumps.
