How to Switch Between Carpet Mode and Number/Cross Mode in Lighty Mod
Lighty Mod is known for its carpet-style light overlay, but many players prefer the classic numeric or cross display. Switching between them takes only a moment.
Opening the Display Options
Press F7 to open the Lighty settings. Look for the option that controls the display style or overlay type. Clicking it cycles through the available modes: the transparent carpet-like block, numeric light values, and cross markers. Pick the one that suits your build.
Choosing the Right Mode
- Carpet mode is best for survival building because it is subtle and does not obscure the ground texture. It shows light levels as a colored transparent block.
- Number mode is best when you need exact values, such as checking whether a spot reaches the threshold for mob spawning.
- Cross mode is a quick visual check: a cross appears where light is too low, so you can scan an area fast.
Switching Quickly
If you only want to hide or show the overlay without changing modes, use F8. That toggles the overlay on and off but keeps your chosen display style. To change the style itself, you must go back into F7. Experiment with each mode in a small test area before committing to a large build.
