How to Open and Use the Lighty Mod Settings Menu

The settings menu is where you control how Lighty renders light levels, so it is the first thing to learn. Press F7 while in-game to open the Lighty configuration screen. This works in both singleplayer and multiplayer, since the mod is client-side.

Navigating the Menu

Once the menu is open, you will see options for the display style, brightness, and how far away the overlay renders. Use your mouse to click each option and cycle through the available values. The display style toggle is the most important one: it switches between the transparent carpet-like block and the traditional numeric or cross overlay.

Applying Changes

Changes usually apply live, so you can close the menu and immediately see the difference in the world. If something looks wrong, reopen F7 and revert the setting. To hide the overlay entirely without opening the menu, press F8 for a quick toggle on and off. This is handy when you want to build normally and only check light levels occasionally.

Tips

  • Keep the display distance modest in large builds so the overlay does not clutter your view.
  • If the overlay seems to lag, lower the render distance setting first before changing anything else.
  • Remember F8 is a toggle, not a menu, so it will not change your saved preferences.
