Set Up Efficient Mob Grinders with Light Level Visualization

Planning Your Grinder Layout

Mob grinders require specific light conditions — dark enough for mobs to spawn, but controlled enough to funnel them to your collection point. The Light Levels Resource Pack makes this setup much easier by showing you exactly where spawning will occur.

Building with Light Level Feedback

1. Create your spawn platform in a dark area — the overlay will show you red or dark colors indicating low light levels where mobs will spawn

2. Verify spawn rates — ensure your entire spawning surface displays the unsafe-for-players color, confirming mobs can spawn there

3. Add controlled lighting only in your collection and killing areas — use the overlay to place lights precisely where you need them

4. Test the grinder — run it at night and observe whether mobs are spawning as expected based on the light level colors you see

5. Adjust as needed — if spawning is too slow, darken areas further; if mobs spawn in unwanted locations, add light sources to those spots

The visual feedback from the overlay eliminates guesswork and helps you optimize your grinder's efficiency quickly.
