Mute a Player Without Banning Them
Silencing Chat Without Removal
Mutes prevent players from sending messages in chat while keeping them in the server. This is useful for spam, toxicity, or minor infractions that don't warrant a full ban.
Steps
1. Mute the player using /mute <player> <reason>. For example: /mute PlayerName Spam.
2. Set a duration (optional) by adding a time: /mute PlayerName Spam 1h for a 1-hour mute, or leave it blank for a permanent mute.
3. Verify the mute is active by checking the player's punishment record. LibertyBans maintains a complete audit trail of all punishments.
Muting by IP Address
For widespread spam or coordinated chat abuse, use /ipmute <IP> <reason> to silence all players connecting from that IP address.
Unmute When Ready
Remove a mute with /unmute <player> or /unmuteip <IP>. The player can resume chatting immediately after unmute.
Note
Muted players can still see chat and play normally—they simply cannot send messages. This makes mutes ideal for cooling-off periods or minor rule violations.
