Ban a Player and Block Their Alternate Accounts

Using IP Bans for Alt Detection

When you ban a player, LibertyBans can automatically prevent them from joining with alternate accounts by banning their IP address instead of just their UUID.

Steps

1. IP ban the player using /ipban <player> <reason> instead of /ban. This blocks the player's entire IP address, preventing any accounts logged in from that IP from joining.

2. Verify the ban by checking the player's punishment history. The plugin tracks all bans with full audit trails, so you can see exactly when and why the ban was issued.

3. Optional: Add a duration by appending a time to your command (e.g., /ipban PlayerName Griefing 7d for a 7-day ban). Permanent bans require no duration.

How Alt Detection Works

LibertyBans stores player data using UUIDs and IP addresses. When you IP ban someone, the system automatically blocks any new accounts attempting to connect from that same IP. This is especially useful for repeat offenders who try to evade bans by creating new accounts.

Unban When Ready

Use /unbanip <IP> to lift an IP ban, or /unban <player> to remove a UUID-based ban.
