Find and Collect Colored Clay from Biomes

Locating Clay Deposits

Colored clay generates naturally across different biomes in the overworld. Each biome produces its own clay variant, so you'll need to explore multiple environments to collect the full range. Look for clay blocks exposed in terrain, riverbeds, and underground caves—they appear as solid blocks distinct from regular dirt and stone.

Gathering Clay Efficiently

Use a shovel or pickaxe to break clay blocks and collect them. A silk touch tool isn't required, but carrying multiple stacks is helpful since you'll want variety for different pottery projects. Visit biomes like forests, deserts, swamps, and mountains to find different colored clay types. Underground mining and cave exploration also yield clay deposits.

Once collected, store your clay in organized stacks by color. You can keep raw clay indefinitely, so gather extra for future building projects. Having a diverse clay stockpile lets you experiment with different pot colors and brick sets without needing to travel far from your base.
