How to Install and Enable LazyDFU for Faster Minecraft Startup

Confirm Your Mod Loader

LazyDFU is a small performance mod that works with common loaders like Fabric and Forge. Before doing anything else, check which loader your Minecraft profile uses. If you run Fabric, place the LazyDFU jar in your mods folder alongside Fabric API. If you run Forge, drop the Forge build of LazyDFU into the same mods folder. Do not mix loader-specific jars.

Verify It Is Active

Launch the game once and watch the loading screen. On weaker hardware the black-screen phase before the main menu should feel noticeably shorter. You can also open your mod list from the main menu and confirm LazyDFU appears there. If it does not show up, the jar is in the wrong folder or the wrong loader version.

What to Expect

LazyDFU does not change gameplay, world generation, or recipes. It only delays building world-conversion rules until a world actually needs them. That means normal play is untouched, and the only visible difference is a faster trip from launcher to title screen. If startup still feels slow, the bottleneck is likely elsewhere, such as too many mods or a slow disk, not LazyDFU.
