How Lazyboy's No Fire Spread Mod Works
Fire Behavior and the doFireTick Gamerule
Lazyboy's No Fire Spread Mod changes how fire behaves by targeting the doFireTick gamerule. In vanilla Minecraft, fire relies on periodic fire ticks to decide whether it spreads to nearby flammable blocks, burns them, or goes out on its own. When doFireTick is set to false, that system is disabled entirely.
This mod automatically sets doFireTick to false every time the game or server loads. You do not need to type the gamerule command yourself, and the setting is reapplied on each load so it stays in effect.
With the gamerule disabled, fire no longer spreads to surrounding
blocks and no longer burns them. Existing fire also stays static, meaning it will not spread or extinguish through normal fire tick behavior. The result is a world where fire is effectively frozen in place, useful for builds, testing, or servers where fire damage is unwanted.
