Use Water and Boats Strategically

Lavaflow's multi-layered lava rivers are impassable by foot. The safest crossing method is to carry water buckets and create temporary water channels across lava streams. Place water source blocks to form a safe path, then collect them as you progress.

Alternatively, use boats on any water you create—they provide both mobility and protection from lava contact.

Build Bridges Over Cascades

For lavafalls and larger obstacles, construct bridges using fire-resistant blocks like blackstone, basalt, or purpur blocks. These won't burn and blend naturally with the Nether terrain.

Avoid wood and wool entirely—they ignite from nearby lava. Netherite tools and armor with Fire Protection enchantments reduce damage if you slip.

Scout From High Ground

Climb to elevated terrain to map lava flow patterns before committing to a route. The 3D terrain means valleys often have multiple levels—upper paths may bypass lower lava hazards entirely. Use this to your advantage when planning base locations or travel routes.
